Deformed Carotid Artery Forced Dietary Changes

After a two decades of mysterious illness and random superficial blood clots that took years away from the poker tables, I finally have answers. However, with those answers has come a gut punching reality that I have to make changes or suffer the morbid consequences.

My first round of clots I took me down in my mid-twenties. At first, the doctors brushed me off as too young and diagnosed anxiety. I had stroke like symptoms followed by horrible migraines that would come and go with no rhyme or reason. I suffered a missed miscarriage that year. Pathology found a massive clot in the cord. Suddenly, ignoring me turned into respect, apologies and testing began.

Blood work showed Lupus Anticoagulant which is a clotting disorder that comes and goes. I started taking Aspirin and do annual blood work ever since to make sure levels are normal. Things were great for a long time after they figured things out. However, in my mid-thirties, I ended up with another round of clots. While playing poker in a state championship my body took a painful turn. My leg hurt out of no where and I had trouble focusing at the final table. I finished in 4th place, I’m so bummed because I actually think I would have won had my leg not started cramping.

Thanks goodness my friend has access to a private prop jet. We ladies flew over in luxury which saves so much time. When I got home doc immediately went to work. He knew a clot formed based upon my symptoms but the ultra sound of my leg showed nothing. My Lupus Anticoagulant came back negative as well. The symptoms got worse over the next few weeks. After more labs and an MRI they found the superficial clots had traveled to my chest. Thank God the clots were not deep vein. Where the hell did these clots originate became the million dollar question?

I flew with a model, a private casino owner and a poker tour owner. They all are used to flying. I have airplane phobia so I hugged the nose for luck to the amusement of the other ladies.

The vascular surgeon ran a CT scan of my head and neck. He ended up finding a deformed carotid artery. Due to the artery being deformed the area was unusually clogged at a young age. The odds of having an issue like this are rare. Like why cant I hit the low odd chance of winning the Main Event of WSOP instead 😊 Believe it or not doc said I was very lucky to find this issue young. Another decade down the line and I would have probably dropped dead of a stroke or heart attack.

A twenty year mystery has now been solved but digs up more stress and issues. Doc wants me on a cholesterol med but Id like a chance to try and reverse the stenosis. I hate pills, I like to handle things naturally and with hard work. We argued for a few weeks over statins and I even emailed a release of liability should anything happen to me. The doctors say there’s 0% chance to reverse stenosis but I at least want to try before going on a pill the rest of my life. Especially a pill with a bunch of side effects. We eventually found neutral ground. I have one year to show a change in my artery or Ill go on the statin.

Now the hard work begins to end a lifetime of fatty recipes, over meat indulgence and Holiday food fests. I love steak, I love prime rib, I freaking love bacon but the new reality screams stop. My favorite foods will kill me at a young age if I do not stop eating them. Painfully, I started to research Veganism. As a family we watched the movie The Game Changers and I read a lot of university studies online. After a week of research there’s no way I can completely convert to being a vegetarian. There are some parts of the diet that I do not think are healthy in the long run. Humans need balance and moderation. I also want to enjoy my meals.

I chose Pescatarian life with eggs. We shall see how this journey goes. After researching Mediterranean lifestyle, they are the only culture to actually reverse artery stenosis due to the high vegetable and fish intake. The process shouldn’t be too hard as I already love all Mediterranean foods. However, what’s Thanksgiving going to be like this year? I make a kick ass turkey with sides. Envisioning Christmas with no prime rib is like having no Christmas tree! I really hope in a few months these emotions will not be an issue. Anyone here an ex meat lover who has successfully converted?

Positive Thought or Hard Work

“Be vigilant about your thoughts,” a powerful quote to remember during difficult times. Covid has impacted us all in one way or another. I think each of us has a negative story to tell from the past year. Keeping control of the mind and not letting negative media consume us all is of utmost importance right now.

We’ve all heard many times before that “the spirit of heaven lies within”, “what you think about, you bring about”, “replay your dream movie in your mind and that dream will come true”. As I get older and look back on my life, I’m starting to feel that positive thoughts followed by positive actions, absolutely leads to success. Maintaining a positive mindset leads the way through dark times. Control over thought dictates who wins or loses, who holds it together and who falls apart, and who lives in hell but walks through the time period with strength.

I grew up very poor and now live an upper middle-class life without a college education. Both my husband and I took a few college classes but never earned a degree. We were raised to work hard and success will follow. The two of us busted our asses to get where we are today. Looking back, I do not believe our success boils down to all hard work. We’ve spread a lot of good, helped a lot of people and tried to maintain positivity during awful years.

Since we were teens in a tiny town, my husband and I have tried to have a positive attitude with everything. We treat people well even when they don’t deserve it, and have tried to grow and learn from our own bad decisions. We also try to pull something positive from situations out of our control that beat us down. I swear life is five steps forward and four steps back, but positive mind control and many deep breaths push us through.

On the flip side, I’ve seen people work equally as hard and not hit goals due to mind set. Friends who because they did not achieve their dreams boil my family’s success down to luck. That infuriates me because I know how calculated we have been for two decades. How much thought, prayer and visualization went into many of our financial decisions. We put in the time, hard work and set up positive relationships. When dream moments landed at our feet, all the prep enabled us to receive the situation. Many times, we did miss out on opportunities because of lack of prep or poor decisions. Sometimes we waved opportunity by because we chose our kids over money. After a hell of a lot of patience and making life adjustments, when a new opportunity came along now, we are ready. Is that work, luck, or remaining positive?

Perhaps the words “you are just lucky” is insight as to why people with poor inner dialogue do not hit their goals. The statement explodes negativity and reflects vibration inside their soul. A person cannot be successful projecting that type of energy. Maybe winners in life, even the not nice successful people, have a positive inner dialogue that sets the individual up for success. My husband’s favorite statement is the six P’s, proper, planning, prevents, piss poor performance. Now add positive inner dialogue into that formula and there’s no way to lose. Even if you’re an egomaniac millionaire, if the inner dialogue is positive towards themselves, they can be a hardworking asshole and still achieve great success.

Jealousy never produces good feedback

We recently just had a real estate agent screw us over. The situation took me down mentally for a few months and brought out a side of me that I haven’t seen in a while. This crook continues to sell home after home getting away with being deceitful to clients. When people see him in person or on his flyers, he exudes confidence. The perfectly manicured salt and pepper hair, the expensive suits and pearly white smile shouts confidence. I can only imagine this agents inner dialogue with himself. If the conversation is what I think it is, then no wonder he’s a huge success in the area. The man works hard and thinks quite highly of himself; he has a no fail mentality.

On our end of the situation, after this greedy agent screwed us over, I wanted to sell our dream home we just moved into and start over. We worked for years to get to this moment yet this man reduced me to tears and feeling defeated. He robbed us of the joy and magic that a home owner should have when they move into a house. After a few months we picked ourselves back up and turned his lemons into lemonade. Now I want to thank the guy for the opportunity he left on the table that we did not see initially. My negative reaction to his behavior made me blind to the situation around me.

After a shift in thought the opportunity became quite clear. Down the road when we sell, we will come out on top. Some will call it luck; I call the situation the power of positive thinking. Had we sold after all our bad discoveries on this property, we would have missed a huge window of opportunity. In the end, after all I’ve been through, I believe our attitude dictates who succeeds and who does not. Humans are the creators of personal destinies good or bad. The choice resides within ourselves.

RIP Vince Reffet

The world lost an amazing human this week, who in my opinion rivaled if not exceeded the courage of astronauts. This video still gives me chills. To strap up and test this mini aircraft with nothing but a helmet and what looks like a wetsuit on, takes super human courage. I believe Vince helped move humanity another step forward with these jetpack tests and deserves to be honored. Thank you for your sacrifice.

Television Influence On Human Subconscious

At the beginning of quarantine I began reading the book, Becoming Supernatural, by Dr. Joe Dispenza. Doc dives deep into meditation and the science behind how the practice can change our lives. If you do not like reading, there is a TV version of the book hosted by Dr. Joe on Prime. I’ve bounced back and forth from the show to the book when I need to visually understand the science he writes about. Within the pages of this book are amazing thought provoking realizations about our society. I loved the chapter on media and advertising, really opened my eyes.

“For years, I’ve been thinking about how we’re all constantly programmed into self-limited beliefs; that is, believing that we need something outside of us to change how we feel inside of us. This is, after all, what advertising is all about-the never-ending dependence on, and consumption of, external sources to make us feel happy or better. This belief, which reminds us of our separation from wholeness, is incessantly ingrained in us through the media, television shows, commercials, the news, video games, websites, and sometimes even music. Its a simple strategy, really: If you can suspend people in the feeling of lack, fear, anger, opposition, prejudice, pain, sadness, and anxiety, they remain dependent on someone or something outside of them to make those feelings go away. If you remain in a perpetual state of busyness, and are always preoccupied in survival emotions, you never actually have the opportunity to believe in yourself.”

Go Away Rona! Here’s 5 Positive Videos

This week has been exceptionally rough on the brain with the explosion in Beirut, around the world riots, gross politics, La Rona and yet another massive fire in California. Writing a deep post is just not in the cards this week. I usually spend a few hours on news channel websites searching for positive posts, it honestly takes that long. The task was very difficult today due to the flood of negative news. Shifting gears, I decided to focus on the things I enjoy.

  1. Watch the world’s strongest ladies fight monster ocean fish. Much respect given as I literally would have had a heart attack trying to catch these fish 😊 Stephanie Cohen holds the world record for a 402lb deadlift at 123lbs of body weight. Sarah Backman earned 27 titles arm wrestling and spent time on WWE. Sarah started competing at age 14! The insanely ripped Kristen Nun joined in on the fishing fun as well. She is a fitness and social media celebrity.

2. The worlds best golf shots never disappoint! The “Better than most” shot coined by the announcer blows me away!

Golf Focus

3. I miss live poker so so much. Bad beats are a huge part of the game, this video highlights a few. The Kelly vs Aaron hand is gut wrenching for any player who has scored an ace high flush. I’ve had something similar happen once in Vegas. I feel your pain Mr. Aaron, I feel your pain 😊

FuryTV

4. One of my all-time favorite comedians! “Go take a nap Justin” freaking hilarious 😊

5. Admiral McRaven gave an incredible motivational speech a few years ago. These mind sets will never get old and are a great reminder when the world seems dark. My favorite and most important to think about right now is #4 “Get over being a sugar cookie.” I’m so grateful for the men and women who train in frigid shark infested waters so my family can live free. Thank you for your service!

Eyeball Fashion Tattoos

The tattoo industry generates 1 billion dollars a year. Millions of people adorn their bodies with creative artwork annually. I only have one tattoo that I got in my 20s and do not want anymore. I’m too much of a sissy 😊 However, I do enjoy looking at the masterpieces people come up with for their bodies. Particularly women who have beautifully sculpted arms with full sleeves.

I watched Ancient Aliens episode, Human Hieroglyphics. I was blown away at what I thought was a new tattoo idea. I had never heard of such a thing. Apparently, eyeball tattooing has been attempted for a very long time. Doctors have tried to tattoo eye scars and damage for hundreds of years. You can research the history of eyeball tattooing at any of the sites listed below. My focus of this post is on how the people doing this for fun have mega cojones! I’m actually glad to be forewarned that there are humans running around with black tattooed eyeballs. I for sure would have shit my pants thinking the invasion has arrived ha ha.

I’m fascinated by the thought process behind getting this type of tattoo. Are some looking to scare people or just get a reaction of any kind? Do you permanently alter your eyes to be pretty or for medical reasons? I would love to know the dialogue in the mind of those who are not doing this for medical purposes. Once you’ve made the decision to permanently change your eyes. Do you throw back a few shots of whiskey before heading to the shop to break the tension or are you comfy, excited and ready to mentally mess with the world?

Some of the looks I find frightening and makes me cringe. Maybe that’s the exact point. Is this the new teen version of I’m 18 and want to creep all the stiff adults out? Right now the joke is on all of us who bump into these kids and get freaked out, but happens when these folks are age 40 and have kids? What happens when they are at a playdate and have to leave because their black alien like eyes make their children’s little friends cry? Who is hiring you for a job to support your family?

prettyeyeballtatoos

The flip side to the coloring of eyeballs are the girls who chose beautiful colors. The aqua girl or the girl pictured in this post with the purple eyes I find to be absolutely stunning! Most children will not be scared either. In fact, I can see some moms having an argument with their 6-year-old daughter over not being allowed to have aqua eyes to become a mermaid ha ha.

So, your eyes are gorgeous now and every little girl is fascinated by you. What are the long term affects? I truly hope there’s none. One woman was temporarily blinded due to a botched job. Luckily, her vision came back three weeks later. I get wanting to look out of this world. Wanting to be different from others and to make a mark in this life. Is separating yourself from the sheep that makes up most of humanity worth the possibility of going blind?

2020 has been gnarly and I feel like this is a year where anything can happen. Maybe all you teeny boppers will have a double laugh when aliens land, get confused and spare all the colored eyeball humans. Cheers to having the courage to be unique!

Dude Perfect Hilarious Quarantine Video

Hands down the funniest quarantine video yet! My favorite acts are The Gamer and Homeschool Parent lol. We are a house of gamers so I get it and oh my gosh this homeschooling situation I’m 100% over.. Thanks for the stress relief Dude Perfect!

Eye Candy Maturity

I’ve been married for sixteen years now. I think all couples can agree that after long amounts of time spent in a relationship, in the end people are not the same person they were in the beginning. Back when we were a young couple, the hubs and I loved to hit the party scene. We had our favorite go to bars and clubs that we frequented every weekend aka the Carlsbad crawl. We moved to California from a tiny farm town in Upstate NY. Upon arriving we found an infestation of hot beach bodies everywhere! It was literally like nothing we had ever seen.

Sitting shoulder to shoulder at the bar with ripped bodies and half naked girls frequently. There were definitely awkward moments when I’d see my man glancing at another female. We all go through this in a relationship both male and female. Its natural to see these perfect surgeon products and have to take an extra stare or two. However, I’d be insecure for days about that five second glance. Why was he looking at her? Should I hit the gym harder? Should I get my boobs done? What if he leaves me because I’m not as pretty as this dude magnet at the bar?? The insecurity went on and on.

We broke up in our twenties. The separation was the best thing for us looking back. Hubby asked me out at age 15 in computer typing class. We were inseparable for years. He raced motocross and we traveled all over. I enjoyed being his pit crew every weekend and he loved this new city girl who had moved to the country. She brought a fresh new perspective to his chill country life. By our mid twenties things got confusing as we had spent all of our young lives together, so we separated. Luckily, the time apart enabled us to learn about ourselves, other people and to mature.

What did we learn while being single ha ha.. That once you grow up in the country there’s only so much you can tolerate with city life! Priorities and entertainment are quite different. He found that bangin hot girl at the bar with the hair, nails, flawless makeup and expensive purse was a fucking hand full! Most of these women are used to getting what they want and act like princesses. The hubs said a few of the ladies he dated were so needy and wouldn’t lift a finger to help with anything. Everything had been done for them their whole lives. We both quickly figured out what we did not want to wake up next to for the rest of our lives. We got back together with new found appreciation.

Now twenty years later when we are out on the town or at the gym. The hubs and I will both point out super hotties to each other. Neither of us bat an eyelash about it. Instead of feeling insecure and jealous. Maturity has left us old perverts having fun with the situation! There are tons of gorgeous country gals but these Cali girls for sure take sexy to an astronomical level. The best part is when this old girl tells these young pretty ladies how hot they are and to enjoy their youth. I usually score a free glass of wine. Boom!
